When choosing a burglar alarm system, CCTV, access control or fire detection system there are various options and you might be unsure what’s best for your own needs. The best thing to do is to give us a call and we’ll give you the help and advice you need. Don’t worry we never do the hard sell. We’ll simply walk you through the options that are right for you and if you are interested in taking it further you can do so whenever you are ready.

How much will a home alarm cost me?

Securing your home or business nowdays is more affordable than ever with lots of different options and prices to suit your needs and budget. We are extremely confident that we can offer the best value for money and beat any of our competitors on any like for like quotation.

Will a security system reduce my insurance?

In order to be considered for a reduction on your home insurance your system has to have genuine police response monitoring, meet PD6662 standards and be installed by a SSAIB or NSI approved company.

As Contact Security Services are fully SSAIB approved and only ever install PD6662 security systems with police response as an option you can receive up to 25% reduction on your current premium.

Is your technology as good as the competition's?

We only ever install the best equipment from the leading brands within the industry which is why our customers always recommend us. Our intruder alarm has won the intruder product of the year at the PSI awards 4 out of the last 5 years and our CCTV systems picture quality, technology and analytics are streets ahead of the competition.

Can I set my alarm system at night?

Absolutely. This is when most of our customers get most use out of their alarm systems.

By using night function, the alarm system will set silently to ensure no-one is woken up, and will provide you and your family with full peace of mind while you’re asleep.

What happens in the event of a power cut?

In the event of power failure, the internal battery located within the end station will take over until power is restored. The battery should last for around 12 hours (depending on the grade of system) and will recharge when mains power is restored.

How long does the external alarm sounder ring for? Do I really need one?

A Contact Security Services alarm will never be ignored as all of our systems are monitored so you dont need to rely on a neighbour hearing your alarm from outside. Our response centre will contact yourself and a list of nominated keyholders and then the police if necessary. An external sounder must switch off after ringing for a maximum of 15 minutes to comply with UK noise pollution laws.

Will I own the system?

With Contact Security Services you own the system from the day it’s installed. You commit to an initial 36-month comprehensive service agreement. This is worth checking as various security companies, such as ADT & Verisure only lease the equipment to you and will come and uninstall it even after your service contract ends. With us you own the equipment 100% from day one. Contact Security Services will never come and remove your system.

How reliable are wireless security systems?

The reliability of wireless security systems has improved significantly in recent years and with regular maintenance a wireless system provides a reliable and effective alternative to traditional, wired systems.

Wireless systems also have the advantage of being extremely quick to install with minimal disruption to a property.

How do I silence alarms?

There are a few ways to deactivate your alarm system. You can enter a valid user code or present a valid tag at the keypad and this should be acknowledged and silence any alarm present. You can also use the Remote Fob which allows you to set/unset the system from anywhere in the house or outside. You can also use the mobile app which allows you to set/unset your system from anywhere in the world at the touch of a button.

I have pets – will the system still work?

Pets are likely to activate standard movement detectors, however, pet tolerant detectors can be fitted that will ignore animals below approximately 24kg in weight. Please note, siting and configuration of pet tolerant devices is critical to obtain the best results.

How do I know when the batteries in my devices need replacing?

We send an engineer out once and year to replace all of your system’s batteries as part of our routine maintenance program and at no additional charge. You should never be in a situation where your system runs low on batteries.

Can my system notify me when my children arrive home from school?

We can program an “open / close” on your system which will allow you to monitor what time the alarm is set and unset.

Does the system use batteries?

No, unlike many other systems, our cameras are wired to you home’s electrical system. Battery power is fine for motion detectors in alarms systems, where batteries can last 2 years before needing to be replaced. High Definition cameras use a lot more power and we don’t like how often the batteries in some systems last before needing replacement.

We also like to install our cameras in places where potential intruders can’t easily reach. This would make replacing batteries really inconvenient too.

Is the video recorder bulky and difficult to conceal?

As you can see on the image above it’s not bulky at all. We’ve placed a phone on it to give you a better idea of its size. It can be easily hidden away and does not draw attention to itself. As you need to touch it to control it, our installers like to put it in the loft if possible.

Is it secure?

Yes! Our system uses bank-level encryption so you can be sure that only you can access your footage.

What if something malfunctions?

When you have a service agreement with us everything is covered. You will never be out of pocket and if we can’t repair anything we’ll replace it with brand new equipment for the length of time you have an agreement with us.

Do you upload video to the cloud?

No. Systems that upload constantly to the cloud can substantially slow down your home internet and can easily be hacked by criminals using a Wi-Fi jammer. Our system records video on a dedicated video recorder we install in your home. It keeps 30 days of crystal clear video which you can easily access at any time.

Can I access video live on my phone?

Yes you can. Using the app you can check your cameras in real time from anywhere in the world.

Do you service the equipment?

Yes. We carry out a yearly service as part of our service agreement with you.

Can my CCTV footage be used in court?

Yes it can. Your images must be clear in order to stand up in court. Thankfully our system provides high-quality images that should easily allow you to provide clear enough footage for identification purposes.
