How much will a home alarm cost me?

Unlike some other companies we like to keep the costs simple and straightforward. If you choose to have a Keyholder system installed it’s £99 deposit and £19.99 per month for 36 months. If you choose Police monitoring it costs £99 and the £24.99 for 36 months. These prices include yearly servicing and any technical support you may need throughout the term of the contract.

Will I own the system?

With Contact Security Services you will own the system after the 36 monthly payments have been made. This is worth checking as various security companies, such as ADT, only lease the equipment to you and will come and uninstall it after your payment period ends. With us you own the equipment 100% from day one. Contact Security Services will never come and remove your system.

Can I get a discount on my home insurance if I have a security system fitted?

With some properties your insurance company may insist that you have a security system fitted before they will cover you. In the majority of cases however, a discount may be available on your annual premium. In such cases you would typically be expected to have the system professionally installed by an installer that is a member of SSAIB or NSI  and have the system regularly maintained. Contact your insurance company for specific details. You would normally only receive a discount with a Police Response system.

How reliable are wireless security systems?

The reliability of wireless security systems has improved significantly in recent years and with regular maintenance a wireless system provides a reliable and effective alternative to traditional, wired systems.

Wireless systems also have the advantage of being extremely quick to install with minimal disruption to a property.

Is your technology as good as the competitions?

Absolutely! We currently install the Pyronix Enforcer home alarm. this is an extremely professional and reliable award winning system.

Can my system notify me when my children arrive home from school?

We can program an “open / close” on your system which will allow you to monitor what time the alarm is set and unset.

Can I set my alarm system at night?

Absolutely!! This is when most of our customers get most use out of our systems, especially if you have children in the house. Over 1/3 of all break-ins that occur happen when the homeowners are in their bed. Our systems have a seperate night set facility which our engineers will programme to allow you to set the system at night for total peace of mind while you sleep.

How do I silence alarms?

There are a few ways to deavtivate your alarm system. You can enter a valid user code or present a valid tag at the keypad and this should be acknowledged and silence any alarm present. You can also use the Remote Fob which allows you to set/unset the system from anywhere in the house or outside. If you upgrade to our mobile app you can set / unset your system from anywhere in the world at the touch of a button.

How long does the external alarm sounder ring for? Do I really need one?

An external sounder must switch off after ringing for a maximum of 15 minutes to comply with UK noise pollution laws. On some systems it may not be a requirement to fit an external sounder, however check with your insurance company first.

I have pets – will the system still work?

Pets are likely to activate standard movement detectors, however, pet tolerant detectors can be fitted that will ignore animals below approximately 24kg in weight. Please note, siting and configuration of pet tolerant devices is critical to obtain the best results.

What happens in the event of a power cut?

In the event of power failure, the internal battery located within the end station will take over until power is restored. The battery should last for around 12 hours (depending on the grade of system) and will recharge when mains power is restored.

What is the advantage of having wireless smoke detectors connected to my security system?

Stand-alone smoke detectors warn you of a potential fire at your property by sounding when they detect smoke. Smoke sensors connected to a security system can be configured to warn you by sending a text message or signal to a monitoring station. Should a potential fire occur when you are away from your property, you will then be notified and take the necessary action.

How do I know when the batteries in my devices need replacing?

We send an engineer out once and year to replace all of your systems batteries as part of our routine maintenance program and at no additional charge. You should never be in a situation where your system runs low on batteries.
